Beck has decided to fill some of his free time by enlisting his very talented and high profile friends to come by and cover another artist's album in its entirety. All of this is documented on film and posted on his web site. The everchanging group is now on their third project. The classic Velvet Underground and Nico was first, followed by Leonard Cohen's Songs Of Leonard Cohen and now lesser known Skip Spence's Oar. A few of the contributors include Jeff Tweedy and the rest of the Wilco bunch, Feist, Devendra Banhart, MGMT and Giovanni Ribisi.
This is a really cool project and I recommend that you all visit the site to check it out. Below is a favorite of mine by Leonard Cohen, "So Long, Marianne." The first is the original by Mr. Cohen himself and the second is the offering from Beck's Record Club with Banhart on lead vocals. Not too bad...
