These are some rocking girls. Claiming residence in Nashville, Tennessee, Those Darlins are made up of Kelley Darlin (bass), Jessi Darlin (guitar) and Nikki Darlin (baritone ukulele - the fact that the band has a full time baritone ukulele in the lineup is badass in itself). Their web site states that "everybody sings, everybody writes." And for the record, they aren't related.
Their songs have a punk/americana vibe that makes the music pretty addicting and highly entertaining. These girls remind me of Deer Tick, but they would be a lot more fun to party with. This trio definitely has an attitude and doesn't hide it in their songwriting. With songs titled 'Wild One,' 'Hung Up On Me,' 'Snaggle Tooth Mama,' and 'DUI or Die,' their self-titled album is a good one to pull out, tie on a buzz and have a good ole rompin' time.
The song lyrics are reminiscent of classic country with that punk edge in that they focus on the Southern life ('Keep My Skillet Good and Greasy'), getting drunk and arrested ('DUI or DIE'), but the punk in them is having a damn good time doing it. Have some fun with Those Darlins...they have a fifth of whiskey with your name on it.
