What better way to start the Sunday Soul feature than with the "King of Soul" himself. Otis Redding is the greatest voice in soul music - arguably in all of music. He passed away at the young age of 26 in a tragic plane crash just one month before his biggest hit, "(Sittin' On The) Dock of the Bay", was released in early 1968. The Georgia native recorded solid gold in his short 26 years of life. "Try A Little Tenderness" is one of my favorite songs of all-time. The way it slowly builds and culminates with Redding singing his heart out gives me chills everytime. An alum of the Memphis soul label Stax Records, Redding's voice is timeless and will help you through whatever troubles life might throw your way. Enjoy and goodnight.
